- Another long lost fire brigade moves their fire engine in July 1903:
The Kenton fire engine has been moved from its old quarters at South Town to the Fire Station which has recently been erected adjoining the Devon Arms. The engine was decorated with flags, etc., and, accompanied by the whole of the members of the Fire Brigade, was escorted to its new home by an impromptu band. Before being installed in its new quarters the engine was christened "The Conqueror" by Mr. Paul, the vice-chairman of the Parish Council. The new Fire Station will be found much more convenient than the old one. |
